Limited protection but very useful for fire-fighters surrounded by flames for a short time. The poncho also provides additional protection against infra-red radiation when worn over flame-retardant garments. Resists short-term 1000°C radiant heat and 140°C contact heat. Does not protect against splashes of molten metal.
